Farewell, Junior High!

    Since completion is near, this quarter gave me relaxation. Years pass in a flash if you've loved the company of those who surround you, despite the setbacks of my junior year. That's exactly how I'm feeling as I get closer to completion. For me, the fourth year was a difficult road to travel, but I am grateful to have reached this stage.

 

    I guarantee you that as I progress and learn more about ICT, I will put my knowledge and abilities. This fourth quarter has taught me a great deal, and I intend to use what I've learned to higher stages of my education. In terms of ICT, I've progressed to a point where I have a variety of skills. This is an excellent training ground, especially because I am not familiar with technological terms. However, we have achieved a deeper level of life because of the information that our teacher implanted in myself and my classmates. It goes through a metamorphosis cycle, growing and changing.

 

    Our personal journey might sometimes be startled and challenged by our own experiences, which builds and enhances us to be the greatest versions of ourselves. If our life experiences inspire us, we can achieve a certain level of achievement. I'm here today as a result of the failures I've encountered during my grade 10 journey. Overall, this 4 years has been a fantastic learning opportunity.

Restoring an Altered Ecosystem

 

    An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. To maintain a beautiful and healthy ecosystem, we should make it a habit to practice waste management and ecosystem restoration.

    Waste management, is the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its disposal. Waste management is a very important element in environmental protection. Through doing waste management, there will be a hygienic and efficient, economic solid transportation and treatment or disposal of waste without polluting the atmosphere, soil or water system.

    Ecosystem restoration is a process that aims to reverse the degradation of ecosystems. It involves the rebuilding of over-exploited ecosystems, or the planting of trees and other plants to restore their natural functions. Through ecosystem restoration, we can recreate or accelerate the recovery of an ecosystem that has been disturbed. The ecological restoration can help to sustain the rich diversity of human cultures on our planet by supporting relationships between humans and the environment that are mutually advantageous.

    Practicing these methods can keep the ecosystem clean. Continuing our habit to litter our wastes improperly, would lead to the ecosystem failing and making biotic, abiotic factors, and living parts, or nonliving parts to break down. Through doing these two methods, we can ensure a cleaner, safer and healthier environment; and considering the extent of the ecological crisis that we are currently facing, through these methods we are able to preserve and protect the biodiversity for future generations.

Momentous Day

  

 One of the most important events in Philippine history is the proclamation of independence. For hundreds of years, the country was colonized by a variety of nations. Imagine attaining your independence after all of your trials and tribulations. It's invaluable. Since 1962, the 12th of June has been celebrated as Philippine Independence Day. The celebration was originally scheduled for July 4, but President Diosdado Macapagal moved it to June 12 to honor Emilio Aguinaldo's proclamation of independence from the Spaniards.

    The country kicks off its celebrations by flying the national flag over numerous historical sites around the country. At 7 a.m., the President, Vice President, and other officials of the government, along with the Armed Forces and the general public, sing the national song Lupang Hinirang while raising the national flag at Rizal Park or any other national historical site. The wreath-laying ceremony and the presidential speech follow. Since 2011, this practice has been observed.

    May we not lose sight of the holiday's historical importance while we celebrate it. Before we gained our freedom, our heroes sacrificed their abilities and brains, putting their lives in danger. May we, as Filipino citizens, learn from them.

    A mother is everyone's best friend since she looks after everyone who wants us. As a result of their dedication and appreciation, one day of the year has been designated as Mother's Day, which we celebrate every year. We couldn't survive without our mother's love and care. She is really concerned about us. Mother is the only person in the world who does not abandon us; she is entirely committed to her children.

    Every year on the second Sunday in May, Mother's Day is celebrated. To commemorate this day, everyone at home gathers and participates in enjoyable foods, either indoors or outside. Mother receives gifts from all members of the family, as well as numerous compliments. Mother is always there for us, no matter where we are. She carries us as a small kid from the moment we are born till we die.

    

    Mother has a lot of duties, and she keeps her busy and exhausted all the time. He is the only one whose job allows him to work and spend as much time as he wants. We can't give them anything in exchange for their effort, but we can express our gratitude and remember them with respect. We should love and respect our mother, and we should do everything she says. Thanks to God's blessing; without her, our lives would be worthless.

Binatbatan Festival’s Virtual Edition

    

    Binatbatan Festival has its origins in Vigan's abel weaving industry, which existed long before the Spaniards arrived to colonize the Philippines. It derives from the word batbat, which refers to a pair of bamboo sticks used to extract cotton pods from kapas sanglay trees. In Ilocano, the term "kapas" comes from the word "kapas sanglay," which means "cotton." Binatbatan Celebration is more than just a festival, with participants dressed in abel Iloko, a woven fabric unique to the Ilocos Region. It showcases Vigan's rich culture and traditional industry.

    To guarantee a safe and enjoyable celebration, a variety of events have been planned in accordance with the Minimum Public Health Standards. Despite the pandemic, the yearly Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts was maintained by utilizing a new normal environment in which individuals could showcase their talents and creativity online. Misa Concelebrada, Abel House Decoration, Capture the Vigan Experience Funshoot, and Binatbatan Dance Competition in the way of family edition are among the events planned for the celebration.

    

    Because of the pandemic, we couldn't hear the drums banging loudly and clearly, the street dancers shouting "Viva Vigan!" and the sort of performance where the performers and dancers can hear and feel the audience's warm applause, but it taught us to be resilient and to find the bright side of things during this times.

Women's Potential

    I used the triple moon symbol presented in the collage above. Women symbolize the same rhythm as the moon, with the female body having to follow a 28-day cycle. Similarly, the three phases of the moon correspond to the three phases of a woman's life. The Maiden symbolizes a waxing moon, represents childhood, adolescence, beginnings, purity, virginity, independence, and courage. Motherhood, protection, fertility, growth, creativity, and sexuality are all associated with the full moon, represents the Mother. The Crone has symbolized the waning moon, which denotes old age, wisdom, change, transformation, death, rebirth, and banishment. It also signifies the fullness of a life lived, encapsulating the knowledge gained from experiencing both the highs and lows of life. 

    Gender equality is one of the eight Millennium Development Goals, which emphasizes its relevance. Gender equality can be a prerequisite for accomplishing the remaining seven goals. A woman has the right to live in dignity, free from want and fear but gender-based violence, economic discrimination, reproductive health disparities, and harmful cultural practices continue to be the most common and damaging forms of discrimination against women and girls. However, women have made significant contributions to every discipline and all aspects of life throughout history. The day encourages women to speak out for equal opportunities in whatever profession they want, much as men do. We should honor those women who fought for the opportunity we have today while also bringing attention to the continuing fight for women's equality.

    Women can gain power in different ways and can be done through government programs or on a one-on-one basis. On a personal level, we should begin to respect women and provide them with opportunities equal to males. We should promote and encourage them to pursue jobs, further education, and entrepreneurial endeavors, among other things. These simple actions will improve women's status in society and help them feel more powerful.

School Year's 3rd Quarter

    

    Third Quarter is a challenging one. But I'm happy I overcame all of the challenges I had, and I'm overjoyed because I learned so much and had so many amazing experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

    

    I'm torn between giving up and staying on the surface because I'm exhausted in every aspect. I constantly tell myself to take a rest and not fall apart. Fortunately, I was able to overcome these challenges and problems by putting God first in all I do, seeking advice from my family and friends, and getting help from my classmates when I didn't fully understand anything, and I am grateful for their willingness to help me. With the assistance of God and the people who inspire me, I was able to overcome these obstacles. Those difficulties served as a shield and a barrier for me.

   

    Moving forward, I will continue to give my full trust in our Almighty Creator. I'll use those challenges as motivation and inspiration to keep going.

Vaccination against COVID-19

    

    The pandemic has had an impact on almost every aspect of life, causing global economies to stop, altering how we work and connect with our loved ones, and pushing healthcare systems to their breaking point. To stop the virus from spreading, governments all around the world have been compelled to impose severe limitations on human activities.

    COVID-19 vaccine is now available as a method to escape this stage of the pandemic. Many experts believe that without them, natural herd immunity would not have been sufficient to restore society to its previous state, and that severe mortality would have occurred. Many health agencies, including the World Health Organization, have repeated this sentiment.

   This problem may be solved by informing the public about the necessity of COVID-19 vaccination and being open about the vaccine's development as well as the prevalence of potential side effects. People's trust in the choice to give vaccines is built via education, and without it, the globe would be unable to defeat the pandemic and return to "normal" living.

Day of Valor in Bataan

  

    The Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as Day of Valor, honors the bravery of Filipinos and American soldiers during World War II when the Philippines was occupied by the Japanese. At daybreak on April 9, 1942, Major General Edward P. King of the United States Army was compelled to surrender over 76,000 Filipinos, Chinese, and American soldiers to the Japanese. The soldiers were ordered to hike 90 miles (145 kilometers) to San Fernando's Camp O'Donnell. Thousands of inmates perished from hunger, thirst, and illnesses before reaching the camp during the hike (also known as the Bataan Death March).

 

    Despite their defeat, the kidnapped troops remained strong and emerged as heroes as a result of the battle. The fall of Corregidor was expedited by the capitulation of Bataan. However, if the Japanese had not taken this stance, they could have rapidly conquered all of the US facilities in the Pacific. Bataan caused them to halt pace, giving the allies crucial time to prepare for subsequent conflicts like the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. On February 8, 1945, American and Filipino liberation forces retook the Bataan peninsula.

 

    The Day of Valor was a national holiday until November 26, 1980, when the Philippine government issued Letter of Instruction No. 1087, declaring “Araw ng Kagitingan” a national public holiday to honor those who helped bring democracy and freedom to the Philippines during WWII. The Fall of Bataan is still remembered as a tragic event and this is not a tale based on a novel. It is a tragedy that will live on in the pages of our history.

Season of Lent

    Lent, also known as the Lenten season or Great Lent, is a year of reflection on Jesus' 40-day fasting and temptation in the desert. It is a 40-day cycle preceding Easter on the Christian calendar. Lent is a season of contemplation and preparation that starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday.

    This penitential and preparatory season aids in our preparation for the glory of the Resurrection. Most Catholics are familiar with the routine: during Lent, you offer up something in preparation for Easter Sunday. The COVID-19 pandemic, on the other hand, is best seen from the lens of Lent. We remember the glory of the Resurrection even during this penitential season. We may place an emphasis on readiness and penance, but we still obtain and glorify our Lord. And if we are experiencing a COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to worship the Lord. All with breath should worship the Lord at all times, not only during the liturgical seasons of Ordinary Time, Christmas, or Easter. This is still the situation now, with so much going wrong in the country. There is always reason to worship the Lord in the midst of so much sorrow and misery, which none of us are immune to.

   The aim of Lent is to achieve spiritual rather than material results. This means that any fasting we do should be for the glory of God and our spiritual growth. The most important thing to note during Lent is that, though the rituals of different religions can differ, the goal remains the same: to repent of our sins, refresh our faith, and ready ourselves to joyfully rejoice the mysteries of our faith.

March is for Women

    The reality that all of the nation's great people were delivered from a woman's womb, and that those great people learned their first lessons from a woman. That's why we've always emphasized how important it is to treat women with respect in their lives. That is why International Women's Day is celebrated with such enthusiasm and has expanded all over the world. Women have shaped human culture since the beginning of humanity, the idea of Women's History Month has its origins firmly rooted in the date March 8, 1857.
 

    While the aim of this month was initially to draw attention to women's successes and hardships around the world, it has since evolved into a platform for women to celebrate their achievements and the progressive developments that have occurred in modern times. March is the month dedicated to honoring women throughout history, their accomplishments, influences, and commitment, but we should honor our collective history every day.
 

    

Women have made significant contributions to every discipline and all aspects of life throughout history. They have had a significant impact on our society, as well as the development of literature, film, music, education, technology, research, and many other fields. They have long fought for fair pay for equal employment, adequate child care, the undervaluing of women who work unpaid jobs such as being at home with children or caring for elderly families, and the underreporting of domestic abuse and sexual harassment by both men and women. Women from numerous cultural and ethnic backgrounds come together through all barriers to commemorate their decades-long fight for peace, liberty, equality, and progress. The day encourages women to speak out for equal opportunities in whatever profession they want, much as men do. New Learnings

              

                During this 2^nd Quarter of the school year 2020-2021 in ICT, I learned a lot from defining HTML, identifying web standards, creating HTML file using HTML tags. Learning HTML would mean that we can build our own custom website without assistance. But it would not only keep us from making a unique website, but it would also make our website look like everyone else's ; we can design our content without depending on anything or anyone. Understanding HTML is a part of comprehending a larger system. Coding and learning coding terms are abilities that need time to learn. I learned to create a web page for the very first time using only notepad to create a webpage using HTML. It made me appreciate how the software automated processed and managed the control of the website we were building, and gave us a better understanding of the features of the software.

 

                At first I have figured out that I’d always need someone to guide me through my first preliminary steps in encoding HTML tags, which were new to me. My first encounter with HTML is crucial. It's likely that this is the first time I've attempted something remotely relevant to coding. I was always making errors, such as wrong tag arrangement, overwriting my base file because I refused to pick SAVE AS when saving my file, I've always been struggling with “typos,” which can be caused by a variety of factors, as well as wrongly copying and pasting deprecated code. However, as time passed, I had mastered the art of encoding HTML tags.

 

                I overcome those problems by putting an effort to study and analyze well the use, when to use the HTML tags and become mindful of what I am typing so that I won’t make any mistakes. Going forward, I will continue to learn new things and conquer any hurdles that will emerge because life is full of obstacles.

Commemorating a Special Day

            Valentine's Day is a global celebration that recognizes the meaning of love. Valentine's Day, on the other hand, has a much broader appeal. It's a day to celebrate love, and that love should be all about anyone, not just a lover. Valentine's Day has, however, been a day where a man is expected to express his feelings for a woman and a woman is expected to do the same, due to popular culture. It also honors the human connection and friendship. It's a day that shows us how to show our love, support, and reverence for those that matter in our lives. It makes us smile when we hear about our loved ones. It also stresses the value of the pleasure we share when we are with people we care for.

 

Instead of being sad because we don't have a boyfriend, searched our life for people who genuinely loved us, in whatever way, and expressed our gratitude to them for being there for us when we needed them. It is one of a days for us to show and express our love to everyone. Although every day is an occasion to express our love for our parents, family members, and close friends. We send love messages to our friends and family for being there with us in times of highs and lows. Valentine's Day roses and cards are sent to all couples all around the country, and take time together to celebrate their love and appreciation for one another.

            Since Valentine's Day is all about love, everybody should make an effort to spread love. Do something that will make the people around us smile. Valentine's Day is all about showing and expressing our love, as well as doing things to make ourselves and people feel loved.

Kannawidan: Amazing Culture & Historic Festival of Ilocos Sur

             Kannawidan is an Ilocano word that means wealthy heritage and culture feast. It marks Ilocos Sur's foundation, which by a Royal Decree on February 2, 1818, divided the province from Ilocos Norte. The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival of the Ilocos Sur Province officially began in 2016. The festival features the province's heritage history.

 

With the traditional opening ceremony, headed by Gov. Ryan Singson along with the indigenous people of Ilocos Sur, the Bicentennial Ylocos Festival goes full blast. The festival shows Ilocos Sur's storied tradition, culture, history, arts, crafts and delicacies. Locals resurrected ancient traditions passed down by Ilocano elders at the annual Kannawidan Festival, but made it more important in 2019 because of the Bicentennial Kannawidan Ylocos festival celebration in the province. The conventional opener reveals the proof of identification that we have a society that we have shaped over the years, and we will begin our path to the future.

 

The festival of Kannawidan was also an opportunity to reinforce the culture of the Ilocano, to remember the sons and daughters of Ilocos Sur who gave honor to the province, to celebrate plentiful harvest or just celebrate the spirit of the Ilocano that continues to motivate locals to improve the province. Various trade, agriculture, aqua and livestock gatherings were held while the 17-day festival opened with a showcase of farm products. Tradition has also been seen in the culinary sweets cooked by locals, including delicacies for which Ilocos Sur is popular. Festivities were characterized by street dances and the product showcase of the 22 towns of the province. Street Dance was held by Ilocos Sur as one of the highlights of the events. The other activities for the festival include the boodle fight, a ceremony accompanied by the introduction of Ilocano traditions spiced with sporting competitions, Saniata ti Ilocos Sur, the Saint Paul Cathedral mass and procession, the exhibition of fireworks, and the motor displays and concerts.

 

It is the Ilocanos' way of offering thanks not only to the Almighty for the bountiful blessings, but also for the town's rich history, including the Ilocanos' strong family relations. This festival showcases the townspeople's deep-rooted religiosity. As a province, we will continue to pursue a more glorious future with its glorious history.

A New Normal Celebration

            For a variety of people around Vigan, Metro Vigan or even the whole Ilocos Sur, this season of cultural celebrations will be radically different as governments prohibit or forbid big gatherings and encourage people to stay home to slow down or avoid the spread of COVID-19.

            Hordes of visitors from other parts of the Philippines as well with foreigners will come here to witness the festivities like parades and street dancing. One of the parades celebrated is the Education Day Parade for the purpose is to highlight the importance of education and street dancing. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival. We can no longer do these activities because of the pandemic and I’m like here reminiscing about the past—the old noise of the city, the energy and excitement of people when an artist comes here, heat for the crowd is too big, smell, sweat, dust of the ground and the persuasion of vendors.

            It is quite sad that we can’t do the activities as before but luckily amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the city government of Vigan has made a way to still celebrate it. Last January 25— the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, Vigan conducted Misa Concelebrada at St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. If the activities were kept face to face previously, now it is conducted via virtual since the physical activities are deferred. Celebrations are still important even in this pandemic and this pandemic literally changing the way people celebrate major events. For the time being, the most important thing we have to do is to be careful, follow the implemented protocols and be safe at all times.

New Adventure

            When the year 2021 came, I’ve seen a lot of my     Facebook friends’ posts with a caption “New Year, New Me.” It seems like most of them have agreed to improve their life this year. It feels like this is the right time for self-improvement as the New Year rolls around. I assured myself that this year will be different.

            Through the past years, I've lived my life with toxicity,   pleasing others, always think negatively and being affected by the others opinion of me. Those were the years that have   given me grief and molded me to be a well-rounded and   matured young lady. It may be a rough year for me but I've learned a lot and I'm grateful that I survived and healed.

              I'm the type of person who sets a New Year's Resolution but it always end up unfulfilled. But I wanted to look at New Year's Resolutions differently this year and decided to do stuffs in God’s will. This year, I want to see myself to improve better, grow up to be a great person, make my own decisions and choose the right path. I will continue what I’ve started in 2020 which is to continue my business, become more productive each day, I will make all the people around me proud including myself, avoid toxic people who brings negativity into my life and stay positive even during rough times. I will start each day of the year with hope, feelings of satisfaction and contentment that would make me more optimistic and happier person.

            The new me will be a person who has a unique personality that may represent the lively, spontaneous and energetic with reflective, critical and concentrated side. I want to be the person who can take care of others, encourage them in every way possible to achieve their goals in life. My new year's resolution not only focus to help me eradicate my poor habits but to adopt the healthy ones. Lastly, I will make sure that I will have a bright future ahead of me.

An Experience

            Learning amidst pandemic is really hard for every student like me since we are not ready for this school year, but DepEd still pushes it because they said that they will not let the children nothing to learn within this pandemic. For the first time in my whole life, I got to experience this kind of education where you can also learn a lesson.

            All throughout this 1st Quarter in ICT, I learned how to write blogs which trains me to broaden my knowledge in giving opinions, ideas and thoughts about a certain topic. To critique a blog in a manner way that enabled me to connect to other people

             In learning, students will inevitably encounter a problem. As I experienced, this new normal type of education is really stressful and hard. Being in a classroom helps me to concentrate than modular learning, I find it more difficult to understand the lesson. There were times when I have to skip meals and to sleep late at night just to finish all the given tasks. During the first week, I am having a difficulty in managing my time, but as time goes by, I finally able to adapt by making a daily schedule.

            There is no challenge that we cannot survive. I will take all the lessons with me throughout my life for it taught me how to stand on my own and be the better version of myself.

Awareness towards Nature Contemporary Issues

            Climate Change and Global Warming are one of the concurrent issues in Philippines that people and the government should take it solemnly and which should be given a solution. Global warming refers to the spike in global temperatures due largely to the rising atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases. While Climate Change is the rising changes, including precipitation, temperature and wind patterns, in climate observations over a long period of time.

            Rising of sea levels, floods, and frequent storms are just some of the effects of this. It also becomes a problem for farmers because it will result to a shortage of water supply that their plant (rice) needed. Drought affects the height of the rice, the number of grains, and the content of the grains. But how to deal with this problem if we—people ourselves are one of the reasons why the climate is changing? If people are unaware that through their own personal lifestyle choices is slowly affecting the nature? 

            If awareness only exists, we will be able to overcome the challenges of Climate Change and Global Warming.  As a student, for me to raise awareness is to use social media platform ‘cause I know that when you use social media to raise awareness, it will have a good impact and get people’s attention. I will post contents that are related to the issue to inform and educate youths of today about what is happening here in the Philippines and also for them to know what they can do to help solve the problem.

            Saving the earth is a global concern and should be treated as one. We must continue to spread awareness and be active in participating any activity related to protecting the nature to ensure that future generations have a better world to live in.

Preparedness

        "I think drills are one of the most important parts of an earthquake plan. They allow you to see how well things operate and to correct any problems. When an earthquake happens it is too late to discover that parts of your plan may not work." —Ron Staley

          Preparation has always been the long process of every event that happens in our life. Although, no matter how prepared you are, when unexpected phenomena such as earthquake strikes without warning, everyone's life will change just like a wind blows yet leaving its traces to show how destructive it is. Being attentive and doing life protecting actions must be taken immediately to survive this disaster. 

         Taking part to do your role as an individual in National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill program of the government is indeed relevant for no one knows what does the future holds. Praying and having a genuine faith in Him is one of the secrets to surpass this battle. Let's not forget to honor and glorify Him for always keeping our land safe.
